Workshops and Classes
A workshop is a single, fifty-minute group session designed to give students effective techniques in a specific skill area. Workshops are free!
Study Skills Workshops
Focus on a variety of topics that help students become better suited for college coursework. Learn to study, read textbooks, manage time, take exams, give oral presentations, avoid plagiarism, and communicate effectively. Be sure to bring your class schedule and associated syllabi to your study skills workshop. These are the workshops that will give you a verification slip. Interviewing Skills Workshops
These workshops will prepare students for professional school interviews in the health sciences, such as medical, dental, pharmacy, osteopathy and optometry schools. Students will learn what to expect in the interview and how to handle difficult questions and situations. Opportunities for videotaped practice will be provided. Attendance at one workshop prior to videotaping is required. (Note: No attendance tickets are given for this workshop.)

Oral Communications Workshops
These workshops provide activities to help students improve communication and presentation skills.
Workshops include:
- Oral Communications for Non-native speaking graduate students preparing for the SPEAK and TOPE tests. (Note: No attendance tickets are given for this workshop.)
Offered Wednesdays @ 3:00-3:50 in RH 274 and Fridays @ 1:00-1:50 in RH 270

Classes
Bio Sci 92 - Reading, Writing, and Reasoning for Health Science Majors
Strengthens biology students' reading, writing, and critical thinking skills to ensure their success at the University and to prepare them for graduate study in medicine, dentistry, optometry, or public health. Students will analyze and evaluate readings from the Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts and Natural Sciences and practice writing essays on topics in these fields. In addition, students can develop and strengthen their vocabulary and oral communication skills through small group work and individual assignments.
ICS 93 - Stragtegies for Success in ICS
Assists ICS students in developing their academic abilities and study skills in preparation of the rigorous demands of their major. Through a combination of lecture, discussion, and interactive exercises, students will explore, implement, and acquire a variety of practical study strategies for topics such as time management, notetaking, memory and concentration, overcoming procrastination, goal setting, textbook reading, and other exam preparation techniques.
Uni Stu 175 - Methods in Small Group Instruction
Explores various theories and methods of learning and development, and evaluates its practical application in small group settings. Peer tutors receive instruction in the design, implementation, and evaluation of an effective learning environment for undergraduate students.
Academic English & Grammar Workshops
AE workshops provide activities to reinforce instruction in the AE20 ABCD courses and prepare students to retake the proficiency quiz in each area. These workshops are designed for AE 20 students, but ANY UCI student is welcome to attend.
