Dr. Chrisitne Moseley received a B.S. in Biology , her M.S. in Parasitology, and her Ph.D. in Comparative Physiology from UCI. Her work in higher education spans over 20 years from faculty member to administrator. Dr. Moseley is the director of the Learning and Academic Resource Center.

Olivia Chan holds a BA in Political Science from UCLA and a California Teaching Credential and a MA in Education  from Stanford University. She leads the Study Strategies workshops for LARC.  Before joining LARC as an Education Specialist, she has lead school reform programs for teachers and has taught at all levels except elementary.  In her free time on the Metrolink to downtown LA, she loves listening to KKLA and making new friends because: "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."

James Culhane, educated at the University of Virginia, Claremont Graduate School, and UCI, has been a Writing Specialist at the Learning and Academic Resource Center since 1980.  He is also the Manger of the Division of Humanities, Social Science and Social Ecology for LARC.  James pursues a lifelong interest in the music and culture of the American South.

Pat Dodge, LARC's tutor salary coordinator, has worked at UCI for many years.  Outside academia, Pat enjoys baby-sitting and knitting for her grandchildren and baking for tutors.   She also enjoys spending time with her daughters.

Richard Nester, a native of Virginia, has an M.F.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts. He is a Writing Specialist for the Learning and Academic Resource Center. He is a published poet, whose work has appeared in such national publications as Ploughshares, Callaloo, and Tikkun. His latest passion is playing the harmonica.

Philippe Relouzat holds a B.A. from France , an M.S. from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from UCI. He leads  Mathematics adjuncts and is the Science and Technology division Manager for the Learning and Academic Resource Center. Philippe has taught in many undergraduate courses, including the Summer Bridge and CAMP Programs at UCI. He has also taught at the El Toro USMCAS and at Mt. St. Mary's College. Philippe is mentioned in one of Richard Nester's poems. His motto is "It only works on the very last try."

Janice Schiefelbine received her B.A. in History from UCLA and her M.S. in TESOL from California State University, Fullerton.  She has worked at all levels of ESL instruction from orientation to college composition.  She is fascinated by the process of language acquisition and is the ESL Specialist at LARC.  Jan enjoys family activities, and traveling with her husband.  A particular interest of hers is the red rock country of Southern Utah which she proudly claims as her "native land".

Susan Schober has two master's degrees, one in Linguistics and one in Spanish, both from USC. She is a Writing Specialist for the Learning and Academic Resource Center. Sue has been at UCI for over 15 years, and she loves reading Latin American novels.

LARC Tutor Advisors



Mike 'thaaat's riiiight' Ousdahl received his B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior from UC Irvine in 2006.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors. As an undergraduate he was involved in various on-campus activities including the UCI Greek system, SPOP, ASUCI, and the Campus Representative program.  He also worked at LARC as a statistics tutor for three quarters.  In the future he plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Psychology researching the mechanisms behind individuals successful coping with traumatic experiences.  He is currently working for LARC as the mathematics tutor advisor.

Salma 'jooj' Khoshfekr is currently the tutor advisor for the Schools of Social Ecology, Social Sciences and Humanities. She was Criminology LARC tutor for two years, and she will be graduating with her B.A. in Psychology and Social Behavior this Spring. Salma is also a Resident Advisor in Campus Village and an Intern at the Volunteer Center.

Mat 'biscuts' Kladney earned his B.S. in Chemistry in 2003 specializing in Organic Chemistry.  Soon after finishing his degree he moved to Scotland to pursue his true love - cardboard and loud music.  In 2006 Mat returned to Southern California to attend classes and work for LARC.  This is his 14th quarter with LARC. Although he is a die hard 'eaters fan he doubts he'll see his team go to the big dance.  He is the current Chemistry tutor advisor.

 Paul 'phosphorous' Ngo earned his B.S. in Biology in 2006.  As an
undergraduate he was involved in a variety of campus activities in
Minority Outreach and education.  He has worked as a LARC tutor for three and a half years before becoming the current Tutor Advisor for Biology.  He is in the process of applying to medical school and in the future hopes to specialize in treatment of the elderly and medically under-served community.
