Learning and Academic Resource Center
(LARC) writing specialists work together with Humanities Core students
to answer the following four questions:
What am I supposed to do? We
review the assignment sheet to identify key expectations.
How do I meet the expectations of the
assignment?
- Generate good ideas. We
help you analyze and understand Core readings and recognize important
connections between readings and lectures, so that you can both
appreciate the worth of ideas you already have and develop new ones.
- Create structures in which to
present your ideas. Workshops will assist you in planning an
appropriate presentation strategy.
- Develop needed skills.
We will help you develop necessary academic skills such as using
definition in argumentation and recognizing arguments embedded in text.
Did I fulfill the expectations of the
assignment?
- Workshops review models of clear exposition so that you can
develop critical judgment and critique your own work.
- Individual conferences provide you an opportunity to work with a
writing specialist to refine your thesis, ensure that you have
made worthwhile claims and have supported them with convincing
evidence,
develop effective arguments and language.
How can I improve my paper?
LARC writing specialists will help you develop a response to your own
